The Session 3 Newsletter was published without an article from the Black Bear Patrol.  The reason that this was never received has yet to be determined....call it electrons on vacation or electrons that didn't learn anything during their orientiering session.  The information conveyed and the philantropy involved makes it worthy of being published here.

Black Bears

Ta Ha Yule fellow Blackfooters!  Session 2 of Blackfoot 30 was another great day for the Black Bears Patrol.  We continue to be amazed of  the knowledge and experience of the Blackfoot Staff.  We specially want to recognize our Troop Guides Steve and Kelvin who have worked hard to mold the Black Bears into effective Scout Leaders.  During Session 2 the Black Bears were led by Patrol Leader Greg Jaudzems.  “THE Bears” (SNL fame) were on the prowl to find the one who was responsible for, gasp, defacing our Totem – The Black Bear Claw.   The perpetrator was soon sniffed out, as only bears can do, and to our surprise it was none other than our beloved Scoutmaster Dvorsky who was duly provided a Special Award – a Necklace of Butts.

Our Patrol met on Sunday, March 16 to discuss the action items identified during Session 2 and begin preparing for Session 3.  During the meeting the Black Bears Patrol members pitched in $50 and adopted a Black Bear at the Columbus Zoo on behalf of Blackfoot 30 (Simon Kenton Council).  By adopting an animal, the Black Bears are helping the Zoo to offset its current annual food bill for its bears.  In addition, the Black Bears Patrol are donating the 12” plush black bear it received from the Zoo to a local hospital for their children’s wing. (Great Idea Greg!!)  SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE BEAR!
